Mediterranean garden ideas
The Mediterranean gravel garden is loose and aromatic: mounds of lavender, rosemary, santolina and cistus in silver and grey-green, a few multi-trunk olives for dappled shade, and pale crushed stone running right through the planting. No lawn, no clipped geometry, terracotta pots and a low dry-stacked wall.

How to get the look
- 1Replace the lawn with pale gravel and plant straight into it, so the stone is the ground plane everywhere.
- 2Mix silver and grey foliage with a few blues. The colour is in the leaves, not the flowers.
- 3Add one olive or a similar small silver-leaved tree, multi-trunked, for shade and shape.
